Her weight has been known to fluctuate over the past few years.

But now it seems Mischa Barton is back to a healthy weight as she showed off her slim figure in Hawaii last week.

Wearing a patterned hot pink bikini and bright necklace, the 25-year-old star of The OC relaxed on the beach and took a dip in the ocean.

The actress is holidaying on the Pacific islands with a female friend - at one point she lazed in the sun while her companion read a book.

Barton’s weight has long been under media scrutiny - back in 2009, she slumped from a healthy UK size 12 (U.S. 8) to a size 6 to 8 in only six months.

Months later she displayed a considerably bloated face and fuller figure after undergoing a painful wisdom teeth extraction.

Following the operation shewas put under a psychiatric 5150 ’hold’ - the U.S. equivalent of sectioning under the Mental Health Act - over what she claimed was a tooth infection that spiralled out of control.

However, the actress has faced more troubles since then. Last month she was reported to havebeen ordered to pay a private nursing company more than $95,000 for services rendered in 2009.

The website reports that the 25-year-old ran up a bill with Doctor’s Choice Nursing for $89,930.57, but the money was never paid.

It is not clear why the actress required the company’s services.

However, a representative for the actress told TMZ: ’This is the first we’ve heard of it.’

Barton hasn’t done anything of particular note in her career since starring in The O.C. as Marissa Cooper from 2003 until 2006.

However, she recently claimed she is happy to stay out of the limelight and still has some soul searching to do.

She said: ’TV is not something I’m looking at right now for a second, just because I’m really at a restful place in my life. I’m really just taking my downtime.

’I’ve seen a lot of other girls who just kept going and kind of spazzed out and I’m just really grateful to be settled right now and not working and not doing anything but working on myself.

’I just feel really blessed with a convergence of really good things going on right now, so I’m not in a rush to do a project.’

Barton has also said she has struggled to shake off her undeserved wild-child image.

‘Part of me wishes those things had never happened in the public eye. I wish I could have been perfect,’ she said.

‘For ages after that 5150 I’d walk down the street and people would give me the crazy eye: “There’s Mischa Barton, she’s insane, isn’t she?”’

Despite the unwanted press attention, Barton is grateful to The O.C and is glad that the show exposed her to fame.

’I think it’s funny and great that all these people do know me from it and kind of had to see me grow up and did see me grow up and go through all that s***,’ she said.

’Now I think people will come around to who you are as an actor and a being and get on your side, so I’m glad that that show - in a way - exposed me.

’It definitely established me as an actor and I think you can only embrace that.’

Hayes looked summery in a yellow T-shirt and skinny Topshop jeans, while 10-month-old Blakely looked smart in a shirt and chinos.

The couple are thought to have started dating again in March after previously splitting in November.

The couple first split last July, weeks before Hayes gave birth to Blakely - her son from her previous relationship with Middlesbrough footballer Matthew Bates.

But in November, Hayes revealed that they had secretly reconciled and she had starting dating Tweed again after launching a Twitter tirade against him.

Hayes was furious after she saw Jade Goody’s widower photographed leaving a nightclub with glamour model Daisy Watts.

In February, the reality star admitted Tweed had been trying to win her back, but she wasn’t interested.

She said: ’Jack’s still trying to get back with me at the moment, actually. But seeing as he’s trying to get into every other girl’s knickers at the moment, too, I’m not really that bothered.

Hayes caused controversy yesterday when she revealed that she wanted to have a gastric band fitted to drop from a size eight to a size six.

Speaking to Closer magazine, she said: ‘I’m nine stone now and a size eight, but I want to lose another stone at least and drop down to a size six.’

‘I’d have a gastric band if doctors would let me. I’ve already asked – I begged!’

It appears that the serious nature of the operation, nor the fact that at nine stone she is clearly not a suitable candidate for the dangerous procedure, is lost on Hayes.

She added: ‘There’s something called a hypno-band where they hypnotise you into thinking you’ve got a band, and I’d like to have a go at that.’

The former Ugly Betty and 30 Rock star is on the luxurious island - a ’collectivity’ of France - with her millionaire French husband Francois-Henri Pinault and their three-year-old daughter Valentina.

However, the couple are clearly back on track and enjoying their romantic festive sunshine break, where Salma has faced an unrelenting schedule of sun, sea, sand and five star luxury.
