First and foremost, Avatar, as promised, unquestionably represents the best visual use of performance capture and 3D technology in cinema to date. It has also been treated to one of the best marketing campaigns. Somehow, the phrase that found its way into every pre-release report, article or outright puff-piece was game changer - and that was before anybody had seen any footage. To get everybody talking about your latest project as a film that could change the face of cinema is a difficult thing, but not nearly so difficult as living up to the expectations that bravado creates. 'King Of The World' James Cameron does love a challenge.

So, is it or isn't it? Has 'the game' been changed? The answer really depends on what game you're playing. If we're talking about what a film can achieve visually, Avatar is unequivocally a game changer. If the game you're interested in is the older art of storytelling, character and dramatic narrative, it is not. Looking back at Cameron's own oeuvre, the experience of reading the scripts of Terminators 1 and 2 and of Aliens is engaging in its own right, before you add any visuals. The same can't be said of Titanic and True Lies, but they do undeniably provide great opportunities for some spectacular action set pieces. Avatar, while more ambitious, leans slightly towards spectacle over script: the story is no dud, but you will come out of the cinema talking about what you've just seen, rather than quoting the instantly classic lines of Terminator/Aliens.

It may not be crammed with soundbites, but boy, does Avatar ever look good. The 3D technology is the best it has ever been, and unlike gimmicky 3D where an audience might lean away from something that appears to project out towards them, 3D in Avatar is overwhelmingly used to create a sense of depth - we're looking into an open window on another world, stretching out in front of us. And what a world it is. The fruits of Cameron's audacious imagination could not be more psychedelic and eye-boggling if Mother Nature decided to reboot our ailing planet with some lush, trippy creations and commissioned a prog rock cover art specialist to make it so. Planet Pandora is awash with colourful critters and a forest of flora straight out of a botanist's acid trip.

Wonder at the bio-luminescent forest, culled straight from James Cameron's deep sea diving expeditions. Boggle at the six-legged horse beasts. Thrill to the glowing pink tree, guardian of ancestral memories. Sigh over the motile dandelion spores, giant touch-sensitive plants and rainbow pterodactlys. Coo over the many-hued sunsets. Then of course, there's the stars of the show, the blue, environmentally low-impact Na'vi whose land is threatened by a nasty corporation. If it all sounds one crying unicorn away from New Age poster art, that's because it is, but not in a bad way - most of the time it looks so glorious the sheer beauty of the thing browbeats your cynicism into submission and leaves it lying battered and bruised, face down in a pool of shimmering ethereal phosphorescence.

Saifeena to tie a Knot..

Bollywood is going to witness another wedding, of the second most popular family in the film fraternity — the Kapoor’s. According to the sources, Bebo is set to tie a knot with Saif Ali Khan. Since the started dating each other, they have not hidden their relationship from the media or people.

Recently, Sharmila Tagore, Saif’s mother made an informal declaration saying, “I don’t have any objection to Saif and Kareena getting married and they will get married soon.” Sharmila Tagore was for a meeting in Jodhpur for Censor Board of Film Certification, she is the chairperson of (CBFC). She also said, “We are very happy about their marriage. Kareena is an intelligent girl.”

Saif and Kareena have not spoken anything about their wedding plans. However, in an interview earlier, Saif mentioned that he always knew Bebo is the right girl for her. He also said, “I am now looking forward to settling down with Kareena. Our marriage will happen very shortly, as soon as we both have a little less work in hand and we can give the marriage quality time. I am extremely and completely committed to Bebo. I have found true love and I would like people to respect that as much as I do.”

Saif’s parents are happy with Saif and Kareena. However, Bebo these days is very busy bonding with Saif’s kids Sara and Ebrahim. According to Saif’s close friend, “there is a kind of fierce and single-minded determination in Saif to make this relationship work for keeps. Moreover, it is not a defiant determination to disprove the cynics who say it will not last. Saif does not give a damn about what people say. He always goes by his gut feeling, regardless of others.”

Salman in Love Again..

Salman has fallen in love again, but this time its horses. Salman Khan has always been very fond of pet dogs and was completely devastated, when his two dogs died MySon and MyJaan. Sallu has another pair of dogs MyLove and Saint for his Panvel Farmhouse. Except for dogs Salman has suddenly developed interest for horses, this happened on the sets of Veer. He has also decided to buy a couple of horses for his farmhouse. He also has an animal farm on his Panvel property.

A close source to Salman says, “Salman has grown up with animals around as his dad Salim Khan would have cows and other farm animals at their Panvel land. While shooting for Veer, Salman started taking care of the horses he was working with, as part of the bonding process. He also made special arrangements for their stay and food and made sure that none of the animal suffered while filming. After the shoot, every evening, he and ad man Bharat Dabholkar would go riding. Now Salman loves horses so much that he is planning to buy two. He is contacted all the best horse dealers in the country and will finalize a deal soon.”

When asked Salman about the news he says. “My love for horses has grown a lot especially after the shooting of Veer. In fact now I have decided to buy two horses for my farmhouse.” On the sets of Veer, Laxmi was Salman’s favorite horse. He says, “I was so attached to Laxmi that I must have fed her more biscuits than I have eaten in my entire life! We had the poor villagers all around while shooting who would not get proper water etc and here I had horse-eating biscuits all the time. But I made sure huge biscuit packets also came for the all children there.”

On an occasion Salman had to narrate about his favorite horse he said, “In between shooting for Veer, Laxmi was shooting on some other film when she fell into a pond and nearly died. After healing, she came back to shoot with me for Veer. This time she was scared and shy, especially with strangers, and it took a lot of effort to get rid of her fear. By the time we were done with the shoot of the film, everybody had become so attached to their horses that we used to talk to them more than with each other!”

On being asked about being the most sexy Asian, Katrina says, “Me? Hot and sexy? Nah. People should see me at home. I’m painfully unglamorous. Just another working girl making a living.”

Katrina also talks about the rumors about her relocating her home, she says, “I know I’ve been reading about relocating my home. I admit I’ve looked at a few properties. But nothing seriously. Though it’s a little noisy on my street I’m too attached to the place I stay in. I’m also too lazy to make a move. Yes I’ll need a bigger place when my sister Isabelle joins me. But right now she’s studying acting in the US. There’s still time. I’ve always wanted a home by the sea. But I love my current home too much. So no plans of moving.”
