The recent sex scandal that shook the Raj Bhavan has popped up many questions regarding the actual role of a governor of the state. The general understanding is that a governor has no work except lighting lamps at inaugural functions and receiving bouquets from time to time.

'Don't invite Chiru for Delhi meeting'

Two rebel Praja Rajyam Party MLAs from Telangana – Maheshwar Reddy from Nirmal in Adilabad and Anil from Balkonda in Nizamabad district – on Friday appealed to the Centre not to invite party president Chiranjeevi for the January 5 meeting to decide the Telangana issue.

The two MLAs said by opposing the formation of Telangana state, Chiranjeevi has lost moral authority to talk about the issue. “Soon after he declared support for United Andhra, the PRP has been completely wound up in the Telangana region. There are no district units for the party now; and all the PRP activists have disowned Chiranjeevi as their leader. How can he represent our case with the Centre?” they asked.

They appealed to Home Minister Chidambaram to send an invitation to either of the two MLAs to participate in the January 5 meeting.

The Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, during the recent state visit to India, was given a lavish dinner by his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh. The Japanese Prime Minister, however, had a special request. He wanted to meet the Om Shanti Om girl Deepika Padukone and congratulate her on her performance in the film.

The PMO immediately made efforts to bring in the actress to the capital so that she could meet Yukio Hatoyama during the dinner. Though Deepika was busy shooting when the news reached her, she canceled it immediately to make herself present at the prestigious event.

Ravi Kishan to undergo past life regression

Shekhar Suman will host that episode of 'Raaz...'

Well-known TV actor Shekhar Suman is set to replace Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishan (pictured left) as the host of unique reality show "Raaz...Pichhle Janam Ka", but only for one episode.

The special episode, which will feature Ravi undergoing past life regression therapy with the help of therapist Trupti Jayin, will be telecast Monday on NDTV Imagine.

While Shekhar has already undergone it on the show, Ravi had been waiting to get a first-hand experience of the therapy that helps people in understanding the reasons behind their present-day fears, phobia and physical ailments.

Ravi says he has always had an angst of leaving everything and going away from his family. On the show he found out why.

According to a press release from the channel, during the course of his regression, Ravi revealed that he saw himself as a 35-year-old Naga Sadhu in Manali during the 1890s. His parents had forced him to marry against his will at a very young age.

He also revealed that there were certain circumstances that led him to commit three murders in his past life, which changed his life forever.

"I am completely amazed by my regression and feel relieved about my fear. I now have a positive attitude towards my negative feelings and look forward to a better life ahead," said Ravi.

After emerging as one of the leading actresses in Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra has been declared India's top brand endorser in 2009, says a report.

According to the report by TAM AdEX, a division of TAM Media Research, Priyanka, 27, has edged past endorsement giants like skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

Priyanka, who is awaiting the release of her next movie "Pyaar Impossible", is all smiles.

"I have always strived to give my very best. It has been very fulfilling experience to be the face of some of the best brands. In my mind, the findings of the survey endorse the equal opportunity country that we are emerging. Being a woman is no longer a disadvantage," Priyanka told IANS.

"It is a humbling recognition and I am grateful for the adulation and unconditional support of millions across the world which is most integral constituent all the successes in every phase of my life," she added.

Currently, Priyanka endorses a variety of brands including Nokia, Lux, Sunsilk, Levi's, Hero Honda and Asmi.

These days the former Miss World is busy promoting her romantic-comedy "Pyaar Impossible", the story of a beauty and a geek. She has teamed up with Uday Chopra in it.

Apart from making her mark in ad world, she has also delivered hit film "Kaminey" and won critical appreciation for her performance in "What's Your Raashee?". She bagged a few awards in 2009 as well.
