The actress is holidaying on the Pacific islands with a female friend - at one point she lazed in the sun while her companion read a book.
Barton’s weight has long been under media scrutiny - back in 2009, she slumped from a healthy UK size 12 (U.S. 8) to a size 6 to 8 in only six months.
Months later she displayed a considerably bloated face and fuller figure after undergoing a painful wisdom teeth extraction.
Following the operation shewas put under a psychiatric 5150 ’hold’ - the U.S. equivalent of sectioning under the Mental Health Act - over what she claimed was a tooth infection that spiralled out of control.

However, the actress has faced more troubles since then. Last month she was reported to havebeen ordered to pay a private nursing company more than $95,000 for services rendered in 2009.
The website reports that the 25-year-old ran up a bill with Doctor’s Choice Nursing for $89,930.57, but the money was never paid.
It is not clear why the actress required the company’s services.
However, a representative for the actress told TMZ: ’This is the first we’ve heard of it.’

She said: ’TV is not something I’m looking at right now for a second, just because I’m really at a restful place in my life. I’m really just taking my downtime.
’I’ve seen a lot of other girls who just kept going and kind of spazzed out and I’m just really grateful to be settled right now and not working and not doing anything but working on myself.

Barton has also said she has struggled to shake off her undeserved wild-child image.
‘Part of me wishes those things had never happened in the public eye. I wish I could have been perfect,’ she said.
‘For ages after that 5150 I’d walk down the street and people would give me the crazy eye: “There’s Mischa Barton, she’s insane, isn’t she?”’

Despite the unwanted press attention, Barton is grateful to The O.C and is glad that the show exposed her to fame.
’I think it’s funny and great that all these people do know me from it and kind of had to see me grow up and did see me grow up and go through all that s***,’ she said.
’Now I think people will come around to who you are as an actor and a being and get on your side, so I’m glad that that show - in a way - exposed me.
’It definitely established me as an actor and I think you can only embrace that.’
